Florida is known as the "Sunshine State" thanks to its 310
days of sunshine per year and 900 miles of beautiful palm lined beaches. The state offers
a variety of natural attractions, such as a long chain of islands off the southern coast,
over 30,000 lakes and the Everglades National Park. This park preserves the natural
habitat for thousands of tropical plants and animals and is still home to Indian tribes.
Fort Lauderdale itself is internationally known as the "Venice of America" with
85 miles of navigable waterways and canals.
The Fort Lauderdale/ Hollywood
International Airport is conveniently located three miles (5km) from downtown and provides
a global schedule of more than 450 daily flights to the Caribbean, North and South America
and the Bahamian Islands, which are only thirty minutes away by airplane.
Florida has a sub-tropical climate, ideal for
enjoying the beach almost every day of the year. December - May (Winter) are the mildest
months and January the coolest with an average temperature of 75°F. June - November
(Summer) are the hottest months with an average temperature of 85°F. Offices, restaurants
and public places are air-conditioned, so make sure you pack a sweater or light jacket for
